Rear Jump Seat - Difficult to Fold Down to Flat Position

SEAT - REAR "JUMP" SEAT - DIFFICULT TO FOLD DOWN TO A FLAT POSITION - SUPER CAB VEHICLES BUILT THROUGH 2/94

LIGHT TRUCK:
1994 F-150-350 SERIES

ISSUE:
In some vehicles it may be difficult to fold down the rear jump seat to a flat position after use. This may be caused by:

^

High friction between the front facing of the rear seat back and the rear facing of the rear seat cushion.

^

Seat cushion pivot brackets may be secured to the floor pan too far rearward.

^

Seat back pivot brackets may be secured to the floor pan too far forward.

ACTION:
Replace the rear seat back trim cover assembly with the new design cover which has a vinyl facing to reduce friction. Also adjust the rear seat cushion
assembly and rear seat back assembly to the floor pivot brackets. Refer to the following for the proper service procedure.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1.

Fold the rear seat cushion to the floor position and check the cushion trim cover for a 1" vinyl insert in the contact area between the cushion and
the seat back when the seat is folded.

2.

If a vinyl insert is not present, replace the trim cover assembly with a new trim cover assembly (F4TB-1866600-ADW) that has a vinyl facing in
the contact area. Refer to the 1994 Body Service Manual, Section 01-01A, for the proper procedure.

3.

Loosen the four (4) nuts retaining the seat cushion assembly pivot brackets to the floor pan.

4.

Adjust the brackets as far forward as will allow.

5.

Torque the nuts to 35 N-m (26 lb.ft.).

6.

Verify the concern has been corrected.

7.

If the concern still exists, loosen the four (4) bolts retaining the seat back assembly pivot brackets to floor pan.

8.

Adjust the brackets as far rearward as allows.

9.

Torque the bolts to 35 N-m (26 lb.ft.).

10.

Verify the concern has been corrected.
