Affected Vehicles
1992 /93 /94 E- and F-Series trucks equipped with 7.3L IDI diesel engines. This program does not cover ambulances and school buses which are
covered under ONP 96B83.
Reason For This Program
Field reports and investigation have indicated that the front end accessory serpentine drive belt may detach from pulleys in the system during certain
engine operation. The diesel engine dynamic operation may cause the belt to stretch. The tensioner, which is dependent on specific belt length for correct
tension of the belt, cannot contain the proper force on the belt and the belt detaches from the pulleys.
Service Action
Owners will be notified to return their trucks for replacement of the tensioner and drive belt and installation of a belt guide and improved idler pulley.
Some of the affected trucks have been previously serviced under a Technical Service Bulletin Article 95-14-13 or were built May 1, 1994 or after. These
trucks will be serviced with installation of the belt guide and the improved idler pulley.
Refunds
Only for owner-paid repairs made before the date of the Owner Letter (or after the date of the Owner Letter if an emergency repair was made away from
the servicing dealer).
Lost Refund Receipts
Owners of F-Series trucks have been informed that they are to contact their dealer if they have lost the original receipts. If an eligible owner contacts you
to inform you that the original receipt has been lost, call 1-800-285-4545. A Ford representative will arrange for an "Owner Appreciation Certificate"
(OAC) good toward the purchase of a new Ford product when the existing truck is traded-in within one year.
