Depress tabs retaining air bag diagnostic monitor bracket (14BO58). Slide air bag diagnostic monitor off air bag monitor bracket.
NOTE:

Replace monitor only if the entire monitor housing is black.

Disconnect two electrical wiring connectors from air bag diagnostic monitor and remove the air bag diagnostic monitor.

Install correct air bag diagnostic monitor (black body with blue base) - Reverse removal procedures to install.

Run system prove-out check:

Turn the ignition switch from OFF to RUN and visually monitor the air bag indicator. The air bag indicator will light continuously for 6-8 seconds
and then go out. If it does, release the vehicle. If a system fault is present, the indicator will either fail to light, remain lit continuously or flash. The
flashing may not begin until approximately 30 seconds after the ignition switch has been turned from OFF to RUN. This is the time required for
the air bag diagnostic monitor to complete testing of the system. If a fault is present, refer to Section 01-20B of the service manual.

Reset radio stations.

8.

Return the removed air bag diagnostic monitor. See Attachment II for instructions.

Ford Motor Company has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1994 Model Year F-Series trucks under 8,500
lbs. GVWR equipped with driver's side air bags.

SAFETY DEFECT
Some of the affected vehicles may have been manufactured with air bag diagnostic monitors intended for other vehicles. If so equipped, the air bag
supplemental restraint system and the air bag warning light would not function. This could result in reduced occupant protection in the event of a
collision of a type in which the air bag supplemental restraint system is intended to be activated.

REPAIRS
At no charge to you, your dealer will inspect, and if necessary, replace the air bag diagnostic monitor with the correct monitor.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
The time needed for this service is about one half hour. However, due to service scheduling times, your dealer may need your vehicle for one full
working day.

CALL YOUR DEALER
Call your dealer without delay. Ask for a service date and whether parts are in stock.

If your dealer does not have the parts in stock, they can be ordered before scheduling your service date. Parts would be expected to arrive within a week.

When you bring your truck in, give the dealer this letter.

If you misplace this letter, your dealer will still do the work, free of charge.
