FORD:
2005 E-Series, Excursion, F-Super Duty
ISSUE
Some 2005 Super Duty, Excursion, or E-Series vehicles built between 10/1/2004 and 11/30/2004 and equipped with the Torqshift transmission, may
exhibit an engine quits upon engagement into drive or reverse, or when coming to a stop. Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P1744, P0740, P0741,
P0743, or P0744 may also be present. This may be due to a stuck torque converter clutch (TCC) solenoid.
ACTION
Verify the condition exists. Replace the TCC solenoid following Workshop Manual procedures. Clean the fluid pan and magnet. Flush the cooler lines
and replace the remote filter element. Verify cooler flow. Clear codes, if any, and verify repair. Do not replace the torque converter or the pump
assembly for this concern.
