Sector Shaft Arm

Removal and Installation
NOTE: Replace the steering gear sector shaft arm if it is bent. If the steering gear sector shaft arm is bent, check the rest of the steering linkage for
damage. Replace any damaged steering linkage parts as required. Do not attempt to straighten the steering gear sector shaft arm or any other steering
linkage components.
All vehicles
1. Place the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.
2. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
F250, F350, 4X4, and F450, F550 vehicles
NOTE: To prevent the front suspension from shifting when the track bar is removed, the front suspension must be supporting the vehicle weight.
3. Position the Jack stand under the front axle assembly.
4. Lower the vehicle until the front suspension is supporting the vehicle weight.
All vehicles
5. Remove the cotter pin and the drag link-to-sector shaft arm nut.

Discard the cotter pin.
