Garage Door Opener Transmitter: Programming and Relearning

UNIVERSAL TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING

NOTE:  A new battery in the hand-held transmitter may allow quicker and easier training due to a more accurate transmission of the radio frequency
signal.

1. Verify the hand-held transmitter is operative.
2. Turn the key to the ON position.
3. Prepare for programming the universal transmitter by erasing all 3 channels by holding down the 2 outside buttons until the red light begins to

flash (20-30 seconds). Release both buttons.

4. Select 1 of the 3 universal transmitter buttons to be used for programming.
5. Hold the end of the hand-held transmitter 25-76 mm (1-3 in) away from the front surface of the universal transmitter so that the universal

transmitter red light can still be seen.

6. NOTE:  During programming, the hand-held transmitter may automatically stop transmitting after 2 seconds, which may not be long enough to

program the universal transmitter. If programming with this type of hand-held transmitter, continue to hold the button on the universal transmitter
while pressing and releasing the hand-held transmitter button every 2 seconds.

At the same time, press the hand-held transmitter button and the desired button on the universal transmitter until the red light on the universal
transmitter flashes first slowly, and then rapidly. Release both buttons when the rapid flashing begins. The universal transmitter has successfully
learned the new frequency signal and can be used in place of the hand-held transmitter(s). Release both buttons.

7. NOTE:  If the device does not operate after programming, follow the Training a Garage Door Opener Equipped With "Rolling Codes" procedure

below.

To operate, press the selected button on the universal transmitter. The red light is on while the signal is being transmitted.

8. To program additional hand-held transmitters repeat Steps 3-6.

Training a Garage Door Opener Equipped With "Rolling Codes"

1. Program the hand-held transmitter to the universal transmitter.
2. Firmly press and hold for 5 seconds and release the programmed universal transmitter button up to 2 separate times in an attempt to activate the

device (garage door, etc). If the device does not activate, press and hold the universal transmitter button and observe the red light.

If the red light stays on constantly, the programming is complete and the device should activate when the universal transmitter button is
pressed and released. If it does not activate, there may be an issue with the device (garage door, etc).

If the red light blinks rapidly for 2 seconds and then turns to a constant light, follow Steps 3-7, below.

3. NOTE:  The training button may be located near where the hanging antenna wire is attached to the motor-head unit.

Remove the cover panel from the garage door opener receiver and locate the training button (may be called a "learn" or a "smart" button in the
garage door opener instruction manual) on the garage door opener receiver. Location and color of the button may vary by garage door opener
manufacturer. Refer to the garage door opener instruction manual.

4. Firmly press the training button on the garage door opener receiver for 1-2 seconds and release the button.
5. Within 30 seconds of the training button press and release, press the programmed universal transmitter button for 2 seconds and release.
6. Repeat Step 5. It may be necessary to repeat this process a third time in order to complete the programming process.
7. The device (garage door opener) should now recognize the universal transmitter and operate the system.

Erasing Channels

1. NOTE:  Individual channels cannot be erased, but can be reprogrammed using the procedures for programming.

To erase all 3 programmed channels, hold down the 2 outside buttons until the red light begins to flash (20-30 seconds). Release both buttons.
