Test D: The Trailer Brake Control Module (TBC) Module Does Not Respond To The Scan Tool
PINPOINT TEST D: THE TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL MODULE (TBC) MODULE DOES NOT RESPOND TO THE SCAN TOOL
Normal Operation
The trailer brake control (TBC) module is optional equipment. The TBC communicates with the scan tool through the high speed controller area
network (HS-CAN). Circuits VDB04 (WH/BU) (HS-CAN +) and VDB05 (WH) (HS-CAN -) provide the network connection to the TBC module.
The TBC module shares the HS-CAN network with the PCM, the ABS module, restraints control module (RCM), supplemental heater control module
(diesel engine only, if equipped), variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) actuator (diesel engine only), transmission control module (TCM) (diesel
engine only, if equipped) and the instrument cluster. Voltage for the TBC module is provided by circuits CBP33A (WH/BN) and SBB05 (GY/RD).
Ground is provided by circuit GD115 (BK/GY).
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

Wiring, terminals or connectors

Trailer brake control (TBC) module
