Verify no interference exists with rotor or caliper.
11.
Reattach parking brake cable to wheel end.
12.
Install new Rear Brake Pads (F81Z-2001-CA). Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 206-04.
13.
Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies and torque to proper value specified in Workshop Manual.
1999 MODEL YEAR F-550 (WITH BUILD DATE AFTER 6/15/1998) AND 2000 MODEL YEAR F-550, 17,500 LB GVW ONLY
NOTE
THIS SHIELD IS FOR 1999 F-550 (WITH BUILD DATE AFTER 6/15/1998) AND 2000 MODEL YEAR F-550 VEHICLES EXPERIENCING
PREMATURE REAR BRAKE LINING WEAR.
SHIELD INSTALLATION IS TO BE DONE ON BOTH LEFT HAND AND RIGHT HAND REAR OF 17,500 LB GVW F-550 VEHICLES ONLY.
1.
Raise and support the rear of the vehicle.
2.
Remove rear tire and wheel assemblies.
3.
Obtain F-450 production Brake Dust Shield (F81Z-2K004-AA) for each side.
4.
Place the Add-on Shield (XC3Z-2B636-BA) on top of the production brake dust shield. Verify the three (3) raised points of the add-on shield fit
into the groove of the production dust shield. Align the add-on shield so that the edges align with the caliper opening on the production shield.
Clamp in place with visegrips or comparable device (Figure 1).
5.
Mark the five (5) rivet locations in the production shield using the add-on shield as a template and drill five (5) 4.65-4.90 mm diameter holes
through the original shield (Figure 2).
6.
Rivet the add-on shield in place onto the production shield using five (5) Rivets (W5251 06-S427).
7.
Install the production shield, with the add-on shield attached to it, back on the vehicle using four (4) Bolts (N611172-S301). Reference Workshop
Manual, Section 206-04 for required torques and proper orientation of shield.
8.
Verify no interference exists with rotor or caliper.
9.
Reattach parking brake cable to wheel end.
10.
Install new Rear Brake Pads (F81Z-2001-CA). Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 206-04.
11.
Install the rear tire and wheel assemblies and torque to proper value specified in Workshop Manual.
