5. Install the pinion hex nut.

Tighten the nut using a suitable torque multiplier.
6. Measure the torque to rotate.

Take torque measurements every fourth revolution.

Proceed to Step 7 of this procedure if the bearing preload does not fall within specifications. Proceed to Step 8 of this procedure if the bearing
preload falls within the specifications.
