2. Disconnect the steering gear coupling shield from the line fittings and slide the shield upward on the intermediate shaft.
3. Remove the intermediate shaft-to-steering gear bolt.

To install, tighten to 48 Nm (36 ft. lbs.).
NOTE: New Teflon(R) seals must be installed any time the power steering line fittings are disconnected.
4. Disconnect the power steering lines.

Discard the Teflon(R) seals.

To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 ft. lbs.).
5. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
6. Remove the cotter pin retainer cap and the drag link-to-sector shaft nut.

Remove and discard the cotter pin.

Remove the sector shaft nut.
^
To install, tighten to 200 Nm (148 ft. lbs.).
