To install, tighten the nuts to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
F-450 vehicles
4. Remove the upper caliper anchor plate bolt and loosen the lower caliper anchor plate bolt. Pivot the brake caliper and anchor plate to gain access
to the upper brake caliper bolt.

To install, tighten to 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) using a butterfly socket torque adaptor (such as Snap On(R) stock #SBS30).
All vehicles
5. CAUTION: Do not pry in caliper sight hole to retract pistons as this can damage the pistons and boots.
CAUTION: Do not allow the brake caliper to hang from the brake hose or damage to the hose can occur.
Remove the 2 brake caliper bolts and position the caliper aside.

Support the caliper using mechanic's wire.

To install (F-250/350 single rear wheel), tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).

To install (F-350 dual rear wheel), tighten to 76 Nm (56 lb-ft).
^
To install (F-450/550), tighten to 62 Nm (46 lb-ft).
6. Remove the 2 brake pads and inspect for wear or contamination. Remove the 4 retraction clips.

Discard the retraction clips.
^
Inspect the disc brake caliper for leaks.
7. Measure the brake disc thickness.
^
Install a new brake disc if not within specification.
8. Inspect the disc brake anchor plate assembly.
^
Check the guide pin boots for damage.
^
Check the guide pins for binding and damage.
^
Install new pins if worn or damaged. Lubricate the pins with silicone brake caliper grease.
9. CAUTION: Protect the piston and boots when pushing the caliper piston into the caliper bore or damage to the piston and/or boots may
occur.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.

If installing new brake pads, using a suitable tool and a worn brake pad, compress the disc brake caliper pistons into the caliper.
