If installing new differential pinion bearings, tighten the pinion nut to specifications.

If installing the original pinion bearings, tighten the pinion nut to the original reading. Then, tighten the nut an additional 0.56 Nm (5 inch
lbs.).
13. Position the differential case with the master differential bearings into the axle housing.
14. Determine the necessary amount of differential bearing shims to install between the differential case and the differential bearing on the ring gear
side. Repeat this step until you have a consistent reading.

Position the Dial Indicator with Bracketry and the Clutch Housing Alignment Adapter.

Force the ring gear into mesh with the pinion.

Rock the ring gear to allow the teeth of the gears to mesh.

With the pressure still applied, zero the Dial Indicator.

Force the ring gear away from the pinion, and record the reading.
15. Remove the differential case with the master differential bearings from the axle housing.
