This article supersedes TSB 9-13-1 to update the vehicle model years covered and to direct all repairs to the updated service procedure located in the
online Workshop Manual (WSM).
ISSUE
On vehicles equipped with 4.5L, 6.0L and 6.4L diesel engine a revised service procedure is now located in the online WSM. Refer to Section 303-00
(LCF), or 303-01 (E and F-Series vehicles) for diagnosing, inspecting and cleaning cylinder head gaskets or cylinder heads.
ACTION
The improved cleaning procedure is more effective and the revised inspection procedure will provide more accurate results. Refer to WSM, Section
303-00 (LCF), or 303-01 (E and F-Series vehicles), General Procedures, Cylinder Head Cleaning and Cylinder Head Distortion to review the updated
service procedures. Please note that the cylinder head flatness specification has changed.
