Hood Latch Release: Procedures
Hood Latch Release - Non-Functional
1. NOTE: The grille bracket bolt must be removed by reaching up through the bottom of the front bumper opening.
Remove the right front lower grille bracket bolt.
2. Pry the lower right corner of the grille outward and support.
3. Insert a 1/4-inch rod 40-48 inches long, behind the lower right corner of the grille, approximately 10 inches above the bumper.
4. NOTE: On diesel models, the rod must be routed behind the charge air cooler and above the power steering cooler.
Work the rod above the power steering cooler and locate the bottom right-hand side of the hood latch with the rod.
5. Work the rod into the opening at the bottom of the latch to make contact with the latch spring, then push the latch lever at the end of the spring to
release the hood.
