Removal and Installation
NOTICE: While repairing the power steering system, care should be taken to prevent the entry of contaminants or failure of the power steering
components may result.
NOTE: The jumper line can be serviced separately. It is not necessary to remove the jumper line from the hydraulic booster when servicing the pressure
line.
All vehicles
1. Using a suitable suction device, drain the power steering fluid reservoir.
2. Remove the fender splash shield.
3. Disconnect and position aside the ABS module electrical connector.
4. Disconnect the steering gear shield from the line fitting and position the shield up on the lower steering column shaft.
F-250/350 vehicles
5. Disconnect the return hose-to-steering gear fitting.

Discard the O-ring seal.

To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
6. Unclip the return hose from the retainer clip.
All vehicles
7. Disconnect the pressure line-to-steering gear fitting.

To install, tighten to 35 Nm (26 lb-ft).
8. Disconnect the pressure line-to-jumper line fitting.

To install, tighten to 62 Nm (46 lb-ft).
9. Unclip the hydraulic booster-to-steering gear pressure line from the 2 pressure line retainers and remove the pressure line.
10. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
