Disassemble
1.
To disassemble, remove pin and spring washer from each end of rocker shaft, Fig. 20.
2.
Slide rocker arms, springs and supports off the shaft, being sure to identify location of parts for reassembly.
3.
If it is necessary to remove the plugs from the shaft ends, drill or pierce the plug on one end. Then use a steel rod to knock out the plug on the
opposite end. Working from the open end, knock out the remaining plug.
Assemble
1.
Lubricate all parts with engine oil. Apply Lubriplate to the rocker arm pads.
2.
If plugs were removed from shaft ends, use a blunt tool or large diameter pin punch and install a plug (cup side out) in each end of shaft.
3.
Install spring washer and pin on one end of shaft.
4.
Install rocker arms, supports and springs in order shown in Fig. 20. Be sure oil holes in shaft are facing downward.
5.
Complete the assembly by installing remaining spring washer and pin.
