Ignition Control Module: Service and Repair
Removal
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Remove distributor cap, rotor and dust cover.
3.
Remove armature from shaft using a suitable puller.
4.
Disconnect three wiring harness connectors from ignition module terminals, then remove module retaining screws and the module.
Installation
1.
Cover mounting surface with a thin film of silicone dielectric compound, then mount on the heat sink with two screws.
2.
Note length of harness leads, and connect them to module terminals accordingly.
3.
Align armature with flat and pin groove on rotor shaft, ensuring stamped side faces out.
4.
Install dust cover, rotor and distributor cap.
5.
Connect battery ground cable.
