Gear Shift Knob - Insert Loose

FORD:

ISSUE:

A loose gear shift knob insert may be caused by insufficient adhesive.

ACTION:

Secure the gear shift knob insert using the following service procedure.

1.

Remove the insert from the gear shift knob.

2.

Clean the old adhesive off of the gear shift knob and the shift knob insert.

3.

Apply clear silicone rubber sealer (D6AZ-19562-AA) to the gear shift knob.

4.

Press the shift knob insert onto the gear shift knob.

5.

Remove any excess sealer from the shift knob.

6.

If the gear shift knob was removed, apply Ford Threadlock and Sealer (E0AZ-19554-AA) to the gear shift lever threads.

7.

Install the gear shift knob on the lever making 15 turns to secure it.
