Warning Devices - Warning Devices Fiesta 1996 (08/1995-02/2002)
Description and Operation

The Auxiliary warning system comprises a number of sensors and warnings.

The ice warning displays (vehicles built up to 01/1998 only) are integrated into the clock bezel and form part of the clock assembly. When the ignition is on a bulb function test illuminates the warning symbols for five seconds and then extinguishes if there are no warnings. The 'ignition off lights on' and 'driver's door open' warning tones are emitted by a relay/buzzer located behind the driver's side lower crash pad.

The low ambient temperature warning (vehicles built up to 01/1998 only)has two snowflake indicators. An amber snowflake illuminates when the outside temperature is between 0.5 and + four degrees centigrade. When the outside temperature falls below 0.5 degrees centigrade, a red snowflake is indicated.

Low fuel warning indicates that the remaining fuel in the tank has reached approximately eight liters, corresponding to the top of the red section of the fuel gauge. The circuit takes an input from the fuel pump module. In common with other dynamic fluid level indicators, this input is 'anti-sloshed' by the electronics to help prevent erroneous warnings.

The low screen washer fluid level warning light receives an input from a magnetic float and reed-switch located in the washer fluid reservoir. Like the low fuel warning, the low washer fluid warning is 'anti-sloshed' by the electronics.

The low washer fluid/low fuel control module is located behind the centre console.

The door/tailgate/hood ajar warnings are signalled by 'normally closed' contact switches mounted to sense correct door closure. If a door is open or closed to the first latch position, the switch contacts will be open and will signal a warning condition. This warning is triggered via a signal from the anti-theft module. For additional information, refer to Section  419-01A Anti-Theft - Active / 419-01B Anti-Theft - Passive.
