This article supersedes TSB 07-11-4 to update the Service Procedure.
ISSUE
Some 2005-2007 Freestyle, Five Hundred, and Montego vehicles may exhibit an intermittent malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) on with diagnostic
trouble codes (DTCs) P0106 and I or P0109 when ambient temperatures drop below freezing. DTCs P2111, P2112 and! or P2072 may also be present.
Vehicles may also exhibit long crank times (up to 5 seconds) with P2072.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Reprogram the powertrain control module (PCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release B54.8 and higher or B55.1 and higher. This new
calibration is not included in the VCM 2008.3 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.
2.
Disconnect the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) line from the intake manifold and the EGR system module (ESM) and use shop air to blow out
any water that may be present. (Figure 1)
