BEZEL REPLACEMENT

ISSUE
Some 2005-2007 Freestyle, Five Hundred, and Montego vehicles may exhibit intermittent binding or abnormal high efforts to move the shifter. This may
be due to binding, bunching or other restrictions of the shifter slider.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

DO NOT REPLACE THE COMPLETE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY FOR BINDING OR ABNORMAL HIGH EFFORTS.
NOTE
PROPERLY DIAGNOSE AND REPLACE ONLY THE BEZEL ASSEMBLY FOR BINDING OR ABNORMAL HIGH LEVER EFFORTS. IF
CONDITION IS NOT BEING CAUSED BY BEZEL, PROCEED WITH NORMAL DIAGNOSIS.

Verify that the binding or abnormally high shift lever efforts exist. (Figure 1)
2.
Follow Workshop Manual, Section 307-05 Selector Lever Bezel, remove and replace only the bezel.
