This article supersedes TSB 06-4-11 to update the parts list.
ISSUE
Some 2005 Freestyle, Five Hundred, and Montego vehicles equipped with All Wheel Drive may exhibit an oil leak from the power transfer unit (PTU)
input seal.
ACTION
Replace the input shaft seal following the Service Procedure.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the PTU from the vehicle following Workshop Manual, Section 308-07.
2.
Position the PTU on the bench with input shaft upward. (Figure 1)
3.
Remove the deflector (7H459) from the PTU input shaft. (Figure 2)
