Ford Focus L4-20L (2009) | Front Wheel Bearing Service and Repair
All vehicles
1. Remove the brake drum.
Vehicles with anti-lock brakes
2. Remove and discard the wheel speed sensor ring.
All vehicles
3. If equipped, remove and discard the water seal carrier.
4. Remove and discard the water seal carrier.
5. Remove the snap ring.
6. Using a press and suitable adapters, remove the wheel bearing.
7. Remove the water seal from the wheel spindle.

Discard the water seal.
Installation
All vehicles
1. NOTICE: Support the brake drum on the wheel mounting face and not on the wheel nut studs or damage to the wheel studs may occur.
Using a press and suitable adapters, install a new wheel bearing.
2. Install the snap ring.
3. Using a suitable press, Water Seal Carrier Installer and Adapter Handle, install a new water seal carrier.
Vehicles with anti-lock brakes
4. NOTICE: Avoid impact on the wheel speed sensor ring and any contact between the sensor ring and a magnetic surface or damage to the
sensor ring may occur. Make sure the wheel speed sensor ring is clean or sensor failure may occur.
Using the PTO Dust Flange Installer, install a new wheel speed sensor ring.
