Flywheel: Service and Repair

Flywheel 

Removal 

1. Remove the clutch.

^

Lock the flywheel using Special Tool 303-254.

^

Slacken the clutch pressure plate bolts evenly.

^

Remove the clutch pressure plate and the clutch disc.

2. NOTE:  Mark the installation position.

Remove the flywheel.

Installation 

NOTE:  Remove any residual thread-locking compound from the crankshaft threaded holes.

NOTE:  Use new bolts.

1. Install the flywheel.

2. Attach special tool 303-103 and tighten the bolts in the sequence shown to 112 Nm (83 ft. lbs.).

NOTE:  Apply high-temperature grease thinly enough to make sure that no grease emerges from the splines when the clutch disc is slid onto the
transmission input shaft.

Evenly coat the splines of the clutch disc with high-temperature grease.

3. NOTE:  Center the clutch disc on the pressure plate.
