Tape Player: Service and Repair

It is not possible to clean the cassette head inside the 1000 series unit as it is inaccessible, although the cleaning cassette should still be used.

To prevent damage to the fascia of the units, it is essential that the surface of the working area is protected by a soft covering.
1. Verify the customer concern by using a known good pre-recorded cassette tape. If the sound quality on tape only, is poor, proceed as follows.
2. Apply isopropyl alcohol to the cleaning cassette and insert it into the cassette player and run it for approximately 30 seconds each side.
3. If the above step does not cure the poor sound quality, remove the audio unit. For additional information, refer to Audio Unit. See: Service and

4. Remove the two top screws.
5. Lever up the top cover at the corners and center.
6. Remove the top cover.
1. Lift up the rear edge of the top cover.
2. Slide the top cover to the side to remove.
