INTERIOR TRIM - CARPET PULLING FROM UNDER
RIGHT FRONT COWL SIDE KICK PANEL

This article supersedes TSB 04-05-08 to update the vehicle model years.
ISSUE
Some 2000-2005 Focus Wagon/Sedan vehicles may exhibit the carpet pulling from under the right front cowl side kick panel.
ACTION
Install a spacer beneath the carpet. Refer to the following Service Procedure.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the right front instrument side trim panel, refer to Workshop Manual Section 501-05.
2.
Remove the right side cowl trim panel.
3.
Remove the door scuff plate trim panel.
4.
Lift up on the right side of the carpet at the top front corner to access the sheet metal floor pan.
5.
Lift up on the dash insulator to access the foam pad beneath, however, leave the foam pad on the sheet metal floor pan.
6.
Install the spacer on TOP of the foam pad, at the right outboard corner (Figure 1).
7.
Reposition the dash insulator and carpet.
8.
Reinstall the right front side cowl trim panel, door scuff plate and instrument side trim panel.
