Brake Drum: Service and Repair

 
Brake Drum

Removal

All Vehicles

CAUTION: The brake drum removal in this procedure is for access to brake system components, not for installing a new brake drum

NOTE: To install a new brake drum, refer to Wheel Hub See: Maintenance/Wheels and Tires/Wheel Hub/Service and Repair

1. Release the parking brake.
2. Remove the wheel and tire.

Vehicles with anti-lock brakes

3. Detach the wheel speed sensor wiring harness from the wheel knuckle and floor panel. 

1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
2. Detach the clips.

 

4. CAUTION: Do not damage the wheel speed sensor wiring harness or electrical connector.

NOTE: The wheel speed sensor wiring harness is routed through the wheel knuckle.

Remove the wheel spindle and wheel hub assembly from the wheel knuckle.
 

Vehicles without anti-lock brakes

5. Remove the wheel spindle and wheel hub assembly.
