ISSUE
A "whistling" noise from the heater plenum near the blower motor resistor may be heard on some vehicles. This may be due to air leaking between the
top leading edge of the blower motor resistor and the case.
ACTION
Seal the top leading edge to the blower motor resistor. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Remove the blower motor resistor from the heater plenum (Figure 1).
CAUTION:
DO NOT ALLOW THE TAPE AND/OR ROPE SEALER TO COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE METAL CONTACTS OF THE RESISTOR.
2.
Place a 35 mm x 8 mm piece of electrical tape along the top leading edge of the resistor block.
