Attachment III - Technical Information
OVERVIEW
This procedure provides details for replacing the high-mount stop lamp wiring harness. The harness is routed from inside the left quarter panel, along the
trunk hinge and into the trunk lid. This harness also provides power to the license plate lamps, trunk latch release and the rear defroster.
To save time, this procedure will instruct you to de-pin the rear defroster wire from the original harness connector and leave it in place in the vehicle,
eliminating the need to remove C-pillar interior trim panels. This wire will replace the rear defroster wire in the replacement harness.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Install a memory saver and disconnect the battery negative cable.
2.
Open the truck lid and remove the left rear corner trim panel.
3.
Remove the trunk lid trim panel.
4.
Disconnect the harness electrical connector at the left quarter panel. Disengage the harness retainer, then cut it off. Carefully cut or remove enough
tape to remove the rear defroster lead (green wire with the blue tracer) from the wire harness. Disengage the red lock wedge and de-pin the
connector from the harness hard-shell connector. See Figure 1.
