Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
WARNING: THE EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEM CONTAINS FUEL VAPOR AND CONDENSED FUEL VAPOR.
ALTHOUGH NOT PRESENT IN LARGE QUANTITIES, IT STILL PRESENTS THE DANGER OF EXPLOSION OR FIRE.
DISCONNECT THE BATTERY GROUND CABLE FROM THE BATTERY TO MINIMIZE THE POSSIBILITY OF AN
ELECTRICAL SPARK OCCURRING, POSSIBLY CAUSING A FIRE OR EXPLOSION IF FUEL VAPOR OR FUEL LIQUID IS
PRESENT IN THE AREA. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS MAY RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY.
NOTE: Before the installation of the evaporative emission canister, a leak test should be carried out. For additional information, refer to

2. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
3. Disconnect the evaporative emission canister tube.
4. Disconnect the canister vent solenoid electrical connector.

Disconnect the pin-type retainer.
5. Disconnect the canister vent solenoid tube.
CAUTION: Care must be taken to avoid damaging the canister vent solenoid.
