Engine Cooling - Radiator—Vehicles Built Up To: 09/2002 1.6L Zetec-SE (Sigma)/1.4L, Vehicles With: Manual Transaxle/4-Speed Automatic Transmission (4F27E) Focus 1999 (08/1998-12/2004)
Removal and Installation

Special Tool(s)

Remover/Installer, Cooling Hose Clamp 303-397 (24-003)

Removal

  1. Drain the cooling system.
    For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.

  1. Disconnect the fan wiring electrical connector.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Using the special tool, disconnect the top hose.

  1. Using the special tool, disconnect the bottom hose.

  1. Disconnect the degas coolant hose.

  1. Disconnect and detach the horn electrical connector.

  1. Remove the radiator and shroud assembly.
    • Remove the right hand and left hand side radiator support bracket retaining bolts.
    • Remove the radiator and shroud assembly.

  1. Remove the shroud from the radiator.
    1. Unclip the shroud.
    1. Remove the shroud from the radiator.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Fill the cooling system.
