Removal and Installation of Thermostat Housing for Zetec Engines

Engine Cooling - Thermostat Housing—1.6L Zetec-E (Zetec)/1.8L Zetec-E (Zetec)/2.0L Zetec-E (Zetec) Focus 1999 (08/1998-12/2004)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Drain the cooling system.
    For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding in this section.

  1. Disconnect the coolant hoses.

  1. Remove the thermostat housing bolts.

  1. Remove the thermostat housing.
    1. Disconnect the coolant hose.
    1. Remove the thermostat housing.

  1. Remove and discard the O - ring seal.

Installation
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new O - ring seal.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Fill the cooling system.
