Removal and Installation

Special Tool(s)

Pliers, Spark Plug Connector 303 - 622 (21 - 226)

Removal

  1. Depressurize the fuel system. For additional information, refer to Section  303-00 Engine System - General Information.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.

  1. Disconnect the engine vent hose from the engine cover.

  1. Disconnect the idle air control (IAC) valve electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.

  1. Detach the wiring harness from the retaining clip.

  1. Detach the fuel lines from the engine cover.

  1. Remove the engine cover.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:When disconnecting the spark plug connectors do not pull on the wire. Rotate the connector to break the seal on the spark plug.
    Using the special tool, detach the spark plug wires.

  1. Disconnect the cylinder head temperature (CHT) sensor electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) sensor electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the fuel injection wiring harness electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.

Installation
  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Initialize the door window motors. For additional information, refer to Section  501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms.
