Pressure Release Valve

All vehicles
WARNING:
WARNING:Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel related components. Highly flammable vapors are always present and may ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING:
WARNING:This procedure involves fuel handling. Be prepared for fuel spillage at all times and always observe fuel handling precautions. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING:
WARNING:The fuel pressure must be released before attempting any repairs. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
WARNING:
WARNING:Make sure the vehicle is outside, in an open area with no other vehicles or obstructions within a four meter radius. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING:
WARNING:The evacuating area must be clearly identified with signs warning against smoking and the use of naked lights or flames within the immediate vicinity. There must be no drains or pits where LPG or vapor could accumulate. Highly flammable vapors are always present and may ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING:
WARNING:Allow the vehicle to stand for five minutes after the evacuation procedure has been carried out to allow the LPG vapor to disperse. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
WARNING:
WARNING:When evacuating an LPG system thermal protection gloves and eye protection must be worn at all times. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING:
WARNING:Always disconnect the vehicle battery ground cable before commencing any service or repair procedure. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
CAUTION:
CAUTION:All disconnected fuel lines and unions must be protected to prevent contamination.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Do not install the alternative fuel supply relay fuse until the service or repair procedure is completed. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
    Remove the alternative fuel supply relay fuse.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.
  1. Remove the exhaust heat shield to gain access to the fuel filter (if equipped).
Vehicles with dry break connectors

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Before installing the special tool onto the dry break connector make sure the special tool cap is turned fully clockwise. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
    Remove the dry break connector cap and install the special tool.

  1. Using the special tool, evacuate the fuel filter.
    1. Turn the special tool blanking cap counterclockwise one-half turn.
      NOTE:
      NOTE:Wait until the hissing stops.
    1. Turn the special tool blanking cap clockwise to close the valve.
  1. Remove the special tool.

  1. Install the dry break connector cap.
Vehicles without dry break connectors

  1. Evacuate the fuel filter.
    1. Turn the fuel filter valve counterclockwise one-half turn.
      NOTE:
      NOTE:Wait until the hissing stops.
    1. Turn the fuel filter valve clockwise to close the valve.
All vehicles
  1. Install the exhaust heat shield (if equipped).
  1. Lower the vehicle.
  1. Initialize the door window motors. For additional information, refer to Section  501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms.
