Remove the A-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to Trim Panel - A-Pillar in this section. | | | -
Disconnect and detach the interior lighting wiring harness and washer tube from the A-pillar. | | | -
Remove the C-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to Trim Panel - C-Pillar in this section. | | | -
Remove the sun visor retaining clips. | Vehicles without roof opening panel | | -
Detach the interior lamp. | | | -
Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the interior lamp. | | | -
Remove the interior lamp bezel. | Vehicles with manual roof opening panel | | -
Using a suitable screwdriver, detach the interior lamp from the overhead console. | | | -
Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the interior lamp. | | | -
Remove the roof opening panel regulator handle. | | | -
Remove the overhead console. | Vehicles with power roof opening panel | | -
CAUTION:To avoid damage, the overhead console trim panel must only be pulled downwards enough to detach the retaining clips. Detach the overhead console trim panel from the overhead console. - Using a suitable screwdriver, detach the front retaining clips.
- Pull the overhead console trim panel downwards to detach the side retaining clips.
- Push the overhead console trim panel forwards to detach the rear retaining clips.

Remove the overhead console trim panel. - Disconnect the power roof opening panel control switch electrical connector.

Using a suitable screwdriver, detach the interior lamp from the overhead console. | | | -
Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the interior lamp. | | | -
Detach the overhead console from the roof panel. - Remove the retaining screws.

Remove the overhead console. - Detach the front retaining clips.
- Detach the side retaining clips.
- Push the overhead console forwards to detach the rear retaining clips.

Remove the roof opening panel weatherstrip. | Vehicles built up to 03/2000 | | -
Remove the passenger assist handles. - Lever open the screw covers.
- Remove the retaining screws.
| Vehicles built 03/2000 onwards | | -
Lever open the covers on the passenger assist handles. | | | -
- Rotate the screwdriver 90 degrees to release the retaining clips.
| 4-door, 5-door and wagon | | -
Remove the headliner trim panels. | | | -
Detach the rear interior lamp. | | | -
Disconnect the electrical connectors and remove the rear interior lamp. | Wagon | | -
Remove the D-pillar trim panels. | | | -
CAUTION:Remove the trim panel at a 45 degree angle to avoid damaging the trim panel clips. Remove the headliner trim panels. | All vehicles | | -
Remove the headliner rear retaining clips. | | | -
Disconnect the rear washer tube from the headliner. | 3-door, 5-door and wagon | | -
Remove the headliner through the liftgate opening. | 4-door | | -
NOTE:Recline the passenger seat backrest to allow removal of the headliner. Remove the headliner through the passenger door opening. | Installation | | -
