Removal and Installation

Brake hose clamp

Removal

  1. Remove the brake disc. For additional information, refer to Section  206-04 Rear Disc Brake.

  1. Remove the rear wheel speed sensor.

  1. Remove the wheel spindle and hub assembly.
  1. Remove the brake disc shield.
    • Drill out the rivets.

  1. Disconnect the rear brake hose.
    1. Using a suitable clamp, clamp the brake hose.
    1. Disconnect the brake tube union.
    1. Remove the clip.

  1. Detach the parking brake cable from the wheel knuckle.
  1. Set the suspension to the design height setting. For additional information, refer to Section  204-00 Suspension System - General Information.

  1. Detach the shock absorber from the wheel knuckle.

  1. Detach the front lower arm from the wheel knuckle.

  1. Remove the rear lower arm retaining bolts.

  1. Detach the upper arm from the wheel knuckle.

  1. Remove the wheel knuckle.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not fully tighten the wheel knuckle retaining bolts at this stage.
    Install the wheel knuckle.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not fully tighten the upper arm to wheel knuckle retaining bolt at this stage.
    Attach the upper arm to the wheel knuckle.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not fully tighten the rear lower arm retaining bolts at this stage.
    Install the rear lower arm retaining bolts.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not fully tighten the front lower arm to wheel knuckle retaining bolt at this stage.
    Attach the front lower arm to the wheel knuckle.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not fully tighten the shock absorber to wheel knuckle retaining bolt at this stage.
    Attach the shock absorber to the wheel knuckle.
  1. Set the suspension to the design height setting. For additional information, refer to Section  204-00 Suspension System - General Information.

  1. Tighten the wheel knuckle retaining bolts.

  1. Tighten the upper arm to wheel knuckle retaining bolt.

  1. Tighten the rear lower arm retaining bolts.

  1. Tighten the front lower arm to wheel knuckle retaining bolt.

  1. Tighten the shock absorber to wheel knuckle retaining bolt.
  1. Lower the suspension from the design height setting.

  1. Attach the stabilizer bar to the rear lower arm.
  1. Install the spring.
    For additional information, refer to Spring in this section.

  1. Attach the parking brake cable to the wheel knuckle.

  1. Connect the rear brake hose.
    1. Connect the brake tube union.
    1. Install the clip.
    1. Remove the clamp.
  1. Install the brake disc shield.

  1. Install the wheel spindle and hub assembly.

  1. Install the rear wheel speed sensor.
  1. Install the brake disc. For additional information, refer to Section  206-04 Rear Disc Brake.
  1. Bleed the brake system. For additional information, refer to Section  206-06 Hydraulic Brake Actuation.
  1. Check the toe setting and adjust as necessary. For additional information, refer to Section  204-00 Suspension System - General Information.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Final tightening of the rear lower arm adjustment cam nut must be carried out when the vehicle weight is on the road wheels.
    Tighten the rear lower arm adjustment cam nut.
