Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:A new clutch slave cylinder and release bearing assembly must be installed whenever it is removed from the transaxle.
    Remove the transaxle. For additional information, refer to Section  308-03C Manual Transmission/Transaxle.
  1. Clean any grease and foreign material from the input shaft.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Using suitable adhesive tape, cover the input shaft splines to prevent damage to the input shaft oil seal.
    Remove the clutch slave cylinder and release bearing assembly.
    • Detach the boot.
    • Discard the clutch slave cylinder and release bearing assembly.

Installation

  1. Apply sealer to the mating faces of the clutch slave cylinder and release bearing assembly and the transaxle housing.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Do not apply grease on any area of the clutch slave cylinder.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new clutch slave cylinder and release bearing assembly.
    Install the clutch slave cylinder and release bearing assembly.
    • Attach the boot.
  1. Remove the adhesive tape from the input shaft splines.
  1. Coat the input shaft splines with a thin layer of high-temperature grease.
  1. Install the transaxle. For additional information, refer to Section  308-03C Manual Transmission/Transaxle.
