Focus ZTS L4-2.0L DOHC VIN 3 (2001)
Remove the lower suspension arm from the spindle carrier.
3. CAUTION: The inner joint must not bend more than 18 degrees, the outer joint more than 45 degrees.
Remove right-hand front halfshaft together with intermediate shaft.

Remove intermediate shaft bearing cap.
^
Discard nuts and bearing cap.
^
Pull out intermediate shaft from transmission together with front halfshaft and tie up using cable ties.
4. Remove front halfshaft oil seal (left-hand side shown, right-hand side similar).
Installation

General note.

Renew self-locking nuts and snap-rings.
2. Install front halfshaft oil seal.

Drive in as far as the stop.
3. CAUTION: The inner joint must not bend more than 18 degrees, the outer joint more than 45 degrees.
CAUTION: Take care not to damage the oil seal.
NOTE: Use new nuts and new intermediate shaft bearing cap.
