SQUEAKING NOISE FROM WHEEL COVERS - 
VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO 11/11/2005

FORD:
2004-2005 Taurus
2006 Fusion

MERCURY:
2006 Milan

This article supersedes TSB 04-17-2 to update vehicle line coverage.

ISSUE
Some 2004-2005 Taurus and 2006 Fusion/Milan vehicles built prior to 11/11/2005 may exhibit a squeaking noise from the wheel covers.

ACTION
To service, install sound deadening material to the back of the wheel covers using the following Service Procedure.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1.

Remove wheel covers.

2.

Clean each wheel cover in seven (7) places with alcohol (Figure 1).

3.

Obtain five (5) pieces of high density urethane foam pad (164-R4902) and five (5) pieces of UHMW tape (164-R4904) from the Rotunda Squeak
and Rattle Kit (164-R4900).

NOTE

THE COST OF FOAM PAD AND TAPE MAY BE REIMBURSED AS OUTSIDE PURCHASED PARTS (OSP). THEY CAN BE ORDERED
SEPARATELY THROUGH ROTUNDA (1-800-ROTUNDA):

TAPE PART NO. 164-R4904

TWO (2) PACKAGES OF FOAM PAD AND ONE (1) PACKAGE OF TAPE WILL REPAIR FIVE (5) VEHICLES. LIMIT THE AMOUNT
CLAIMED TO THE MATERIAL USED FOR THE REPAIR.
