Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to Section  303-05 Accessory Drive.
  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Remove the radiator grille.

  1. Detach the right-hand headlamp.

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the headlamp.

  1. Remove the protective cap and disconnect the generator electrical connectors.

  1. Detach the power steering reservoir and position it to one side.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:It is not possible to fully remove the retaining bolt from the generator at this stage.
    Remove the generator upper retaining nut, bolt and stud.

  1. Remove the generator lower retaining bolt.

  1. Remove the generator through the headlamp aperture.

Installation
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install the generator upper retaining bolt into the generator prior to installing the generator.
    Install the generator through the headlamp aperture.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not tighten the generator lower retaining bolt at this stage.
    Install the generator lower retaining bolt.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not tighten the generator upper retaining nut and bolt at this stage.
    Install the generator upper retaining nut, bolt and stud.

  1. Tighten the generator lower retaining bolt.

  1. Tighten the generator upper retaining nut and bolt.

  1. Install the power steering reservoir.

  1. Connect the generator electrical connectors and install the protective cap.

  1. Connect the electrical connector and install the headlamp.

  1. Install the right-hand headlamp.

  1. Install the radiator grille.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  1. Install a new accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to Section  303-05 Accessory Drive.
  1. Connect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
