Removal
NOTE: The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
1. Remove the driver air bag module. For additional information, refer to Driver Air Bag Module See: Air Bag/Service and Repair/Driver Air Bag
Module.
2. NOTICE: Make sure the road wheels are in the straight-ahead position. Damage to the clockspring may occur.
Remove the steering wheel.
3. Release the upper steering column shroud by pressing inward on the sides, lift upwards and remove the upper steering column shroud.
4. Remove the 3 screws and lower steering column shroud.
5. If equipped, remove steering angle sensor.

Disconnect the electrical connector.

Remove the 2 screws and steering angle sensor.
6. Remove the clockspring.

Disconnect the electrical connector.

Remove the 2 screws.

Remove the clockspring.
