3. Detach the side air bag bolt cover.
4. Remove the bolt, lift up and out to separate the side air bag module from the seat backrest.
5. Slide and disengage the side air bag module electrical connector locking clip, release the tab and disconnect the side air bag module electrical
connector.
6. Remove the 4 recliner-to-backrest frame bolts and remove the recliners.
7. Disengage the backrest cover lower J-strips.
8. Separate the hook-and-loop strips on each side, at the bottom of the backrest trim cover.
9. If equipped, invert the backrest cover and remove the row of hog rings in the front.
10. NOTICE: Use care when separating the backrest trim cover from the hook-and-loop strip, or the hook-and-loop strip can be torn from
the backrest foam pad.
Place a hand between the backrest trim cover and backrest foam pad and carefully separate the hook-and-loop strips.
11. Invert the backrest trim cover to the hog rings at the rear of the backrest.
12. Remove the hog rings attaching the backrest cover to the backrest frame wire in the rear.

Feed the side air bag and heated seat (if equipped) wire harnesses through the side of the backrest trim cover.
13. Invert up and remove the backrest cover.
14. Remove the pin-type retainers and the hard back panel.
15. Separate the backrest frame from the backrest foam pad.
16. Release the 2 static lumbar spring clips from the backrest frame and remove the static lumbar assembly.
17. Remove the 2 nuts and side air bag mounting bracket.
Seats with heat
18. If a new heater mat is needed, carefully peel and remove the backrest heater mat from the backrest foam pad.

It is acceptable for a thin layer of foam to peel away with the old heater mat. The new heater mat will adhere to the foam pad, but if foam
tearing occurs or if any pieces of foam are removed, install a new foam pad.
Assembly
Seats with heat
1. NOTICE: Do not install a used heater mat to any foam pad. It will not adhere correctly causing it to bunch up and may cause system
failure.
If installing a new heater mat, attach the backrest heater mat to the backrest foam pad.

Remove the paper backing from the adhesive strips.

Align the heater mat to the foam pad and apply it to the foam making sure it lays flat, without wrinkles and is tucked into the valleys of the
foam pad.
All seats
2. Position the side air bag mounting bracket and install the 2 nuts.

Tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
3. Install the static lumbar assembly.
4. Position the backrest frame into the backrest foam pad.
5. Position the hard back panel and install the pin-type retainers.
