Removal and Installation

WARNING:

Some steps within this operation may cause fuel spillage. Be prepared for fuel spillage at all times and always observe fuel handling precautions. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury.

CAUTION:

Disconnect the battery negative lead.
Remove
1. Remove the engine cover.
1. Remove the retaining screw covers.
2. Remove the retaining screws and lift off the cover.

2. Detach the fuel return pipe from the clip.

3. Disconnect the four fuel injector pipe unions from the fuel injectors.

4. Disconnect the four fuel injector pipe unions from the fuel injection pump.

5. Remove the fuel injector pipes.

6. Disconnect the fuel injector hoses.

7. Detach the needle lift sensor multiplug from the bracket.

8. Disconnect the needle lift sensor multiplug.

9. Detach the needle lift sensor wiring from the glow plug loom clips.

10. Disconnect the glow plug wiring from the glow plugs.

11. Remove the fuel injector clamps (four bolts and four clamps).

12. Disconnect the return pipe union from the number 3 fuel injector and remove.

13. Remove the fuel injectors.

14. Remove and discard the fuel injector sealing washers.
Install
15. Refit the components in the reverse order.
• Always use new fuel injector sealing washers; do not attempt to refit the old ones.
• Do not adjust the opening pressure or spray pattern of number one injector. Renew if outside specification.
