Thermostat (2.0i DOHC) - Remove And Install (24 454 0)

Galaxy 1995 (02/1995-03/2000)

Removal and Installation

Remove

CAUTION:

Disconnect the battery negative lead.

1. Drain the cooling system (refer to Operation Number 24 122 0).

2. Remove the battery housing top and side shield (battery removed for clarity).

3. Disconnect the temperature sender multiplugs.

4. Remove the thermostat housing.

5. Disconnect the heater hose.

6. Disconnect the expansion tank hose.

7. Remove the thermostat from its housing.

Thermostat - Test (Thermostat Removed) (24 451 0)

8. Suspend the thermostat in water in a suitable container.

Ensure the thermostat does not touch the sides of the container.

9. Gradually heat the water frequently checking the temperature with an accurate thermometer.

If the thermostat function is incorrect fit a new thermostat.

Install

10. Refit the thermostat into the housing.

Ensure that the rubber seal is located correctly.

11. Refit the components in the reverse order.

12. Refill the cooling system and check for leaks (refer to Operation Number 24 122 0).
