Description and Operation The DOHC 16V engine in the Ford Galaxy meets the strict 96 EEC emission regulations. To achieve this standard of emission control, the engine is equipped with an enhanced powertrain control module (PCM), a catalytic converter, an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system, an evaporative emission (EVAP) fuel vapour management system and secondary air injection (AIR). The engine is very similar to that already found in the Scorpio '95 range. The capacity of the engine is 2.3 litre and it features sequential multiport fuel injection (SFI). The engine management system utilises the new 104 pin (EEC V) powertrain control module with built in electronic ignition system functionality. Further information, including a full system description is contained within the FDS 2000 Vehicle System Test Manual (CG1591). |
