Removal and Installation
Remove

WARNING:

Wait at least two minutes after disconnecting the battery negative lead, before disconnecting any supplementary restraint systems multiplugs.

CAUTION:

Disconnect the battery negative lead.
1. Remove the steering wheel (refer to Operation No. 13 524 0).

2. Disconnect the horn wiring (two spade connectors).

NOTE:

Some variants may be fitted with three washers between the clockspring/horn slip ring assembly and the steering wheel.
3. Detach the clockspring/horn slip ring assembly.
   Remove three screws and the clockspring release/locking ring.

4. Remove the clockspring/horn slip ring assembly.
Install

NOTE:

If fitting a new clockspring/slip ring assembly apply a smear of molybdenum disulphide grease to the horn slip rings.
5. Refit the clockspring/slip ring assembly to the steering wheel

WARNING:

The following clockspring centralising procedure must be carried out after refitting the clockspring/slip ring assembly to the steering wheel. Failure to follow this instruction can result in personal injury.

WARNING:

If there is any doubt about the centralisation of the clockspring the clockspring centralisation procedure must be repeated. Failure to follow this instruction can result in personal injury.
6. Centralise the clockspring.
1. Depress the locking plunger.
2. Rotate the outer rotor fully anti‐clockwise until tight.

7. Centralise the clockspring (continued).
1. Rotate the outer rotor clockwise approximately 2.75 turns.
2. Release the locking plunger. Ensure the plunger locks the clockspring in this position.
8. Refit the remaining components in the reverse order.
