NOTE:

”Safety Precautions" and ”General Requirements and Safety Measures for Maintenance and Repair Work" at the beginning of this section.

1. Standard preparatory measures.
• Obtain the radio keycode.
• Make a note of the pre‐set radio stations.
• Place protective covers on the fenders.

CAUTION:

Disconnect the battery negative lead.

2. Extract the A/C refrigerant according to Operation Number 34 620 0.

3. Disconnect the hose from the air cleaner housing.

4. Detach the drive belt from the A/C compressor.
• Screw in an M6x30 bolt finger tight on the compressor bracket.
• Turn the bolt about another five turns to slacken the drive belt.
• Raise the vehicle.

5. Detach the drive belt from the A/C compressor (cont.).
   Take off the drive belt from the compressor belt pulley.

NOTE:

Immediately close off the refrigerant lines and connections with plugs.

6. Remove the A/C compressor.
1. Detach the refrigerant lines from the A/C compressor (one bolt) and take out the O‐rings.
2. Disconnect the plug from the air conditioning compressor.

7. Remove the A/C compressor (two bolts) (cont.)
Install
8. Install the components in reverse order.

NOTE:

Torques: refer to ”General Specifications".

NOTE:

When fitting a new compressor, correct the refrigerant oil quantity in accordance with the ”General Specifications".

NOTE:

Renew the O‐rings and lubricate with refrigerant oil.

9. Evacuate and fill the air conditioning system as described in Operation Number 34 620 0.
10. Standard finishing operations:
• Connect the battery negative lead.
• Enter the radio keycode.
• Program the pre‐set radio stations.
• Set the clock.
• Remove the protective covers.
• Carry out a road test to enable the PCM to collect data.
11. Check the operation of the air conditioning system.
