We are republishing this TSB article to inform you of the service part numbers for the new design tailgate hinges.
A new upper left hand hinge on gate and a new pivot upper hinge on body has been released for 1985 Ford Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis
Station Wagons.

Dealers performing service adjustment to 1985 vehicles may readily identify these new components. The hinge on gate incorporates a hook pawl and
partial open face hinge body. The pivot on the hinge body is a round bearing type pivot rather than a triangular shape design (Figure 4).
Adjustment for Tailgate Upper Hinge and Latch Release Link:

Open the tailgate as a gate.
2.
Remove the tailgate inside handle and trim panel access cover.
