This article is re-issued to change the "pinion" to "valve" in paragraph one, two and three. In paragraph one "pinion bore" becomes "valve bore". In
paragraph two and three "pinion seals" become "valve seals". Otherwise the article is basically the same.

Beginning early in the 1983 production model year, a revised power steering rack and pinion gear housing with a smaller diameter valve bore will be
used.

The only external difference between the new and previous gears is the letters "SPR-BJ or BK" stamped on the upper right end of the rack housing of the
new gear. Internally, the new gear uses smaller valve seals, but is otherwise the same.

Future seal kits will contain two sets of valve seals to accomodate both housings. The "red or blue" seals are used on the new, small diameter bore
housing. The "white, tan or green" seals are used on the previous, larger diameter bore housing. Following is a method for choosing which set of service
seals to use based on color.

*The small diameter valve bore requires a smaller diameter pinion seal remover tool (D82P-3504-E1). However, this new tool can also be used for large
diameter valve housings.
