Disassemble the 3-4 shift valve components by removing the clip, sleeve with plug, 3-4 shift valve, and both springs. See Figure 12 for exploded
view.
(The 3-4 TV modulator valve may be left in place, but verify that it is free in the bore.) Also verify that the plug in the sleeve has grooves across the end
face (hollow end). If not, then file or grind a small groove in the end face. (This can be done touching the surface of the end face to a grinding wheel to
scratch the surface.)
5.
Replace the 3-4 shift valve spring (the larger of the two springs) with the revised spring.
